Westford Journalist, Gordon B. Seavey’s Newspaper Articles (1952-1995)

Gordon B. Seavey (1905-1996) was a devoted local historian and journalist, recognized for his historical features in the Westford Eagle and the Lowell Sun. He began his journalism career in high school, contributing to the Lowell Courier-Citizen and The Ayer Public Spirit. After graduating from Westford Academy in 1922, he attended Commercial College and later pursued journalism courses at Boston University. Seavey graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1929.

Throughout his journalism career, Seavey served as the publisher of the Belmont Citizen for 32 years. He held several prominent positions, including president of the National Newspaper Association and the Massachusetts Press Association. Additionally, he co-founded the New England Weekly Press Association and the Belmont Board of Trade in Massachusetts.

In addition to his notable writing career, Seavey made significant contributions to the Westford community as a Cemetery Commissioner and a Trustee of Westford Academy. Remarkably, he never fully retired; he continued to write articles for local newspapers, often focusing on the history of his cherished Westford, leaving behind a lasting legacy.

Here is a list of articles by Gordon Seavey, organized alphabetically by year.
