Game

Checker game in a red folding case styled like a leather-bound book (4.5″ x 4.5″ x 1″). Wooden board with holes for checker pegs in a maroon leather case with a crest embossed on the front. The checker pegs are stored in a hollow under the board, which is attached to the case.

The game was used by Marie Aurea Marcotte Rondeau (1934-2015), who was a lifelong Westford resident. Some of her Westford Academy notes are highlighted here. As a high school student, her ambition was to become a nurse. She specifically enjoyed crocheting and knitting, which may be highlighted with her doll’s clothes. She was also a member of the Girl Scouts. Later in life, she served on the Board of Directors of the Cameron Senior Center.
