Courier Sampler

After the Abbot Worsted Co. moved out of Westford in the 1950s, Murray Printing purchased the Forge Village mill. Courier subsequently purchased Murray in 1966. The colorful satirical sampler represents playing cards. For their employees, they instituted a safety program involving safety coupons. Courier’s Westford facility largely fell into disuse by the early 2000s, and was sold and converted into apartments by 2015. It now features energy independence via solar panels and the restored hydroelectric generator, while retaining the original structure.

The items were donated by Westford resident Richard McLaughlin.
