Hildreth Hills Painting

Landscape watercolor of Hildreth Hills. According to the research of local journalist Gordon Seavey (1905-1996), it is in a so-called Primitive style, which tends to have a flatter appearance. It is a depiction of the Hildreth Homestead in the early 1700s, while the painting itself was done around 1850 by one of the daughters of Abijah Hildreth (1783-1868). The depicted red farmhouse at 58 Hildreth St was built in 1687 by Ephraim Hildreth (1655-1731). It is one of the oldest houses still standing in Westford.
