Photograph of 72 Graniteville Rd (also known as the Martha Symmes House), as it looked around 1930. The house was built by 1882, and first appears on maps starting in 1889. However, houses with central chimneys tended to be more common in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, suggesting the house might be older. Martha Washington Symmes (1888-1949) was born in her family home to Thomas Edmund Symmes (1843-1912) and Nancy Hale (1857-1939). By 1975, the home was owned by Ann Hall (1909-1995). The house has seen significant changes since 1930, such as a garage, an enclosed porch, and, after 1975, an ell.

The house today on Google Maps.
