Oil Lamp
From the Collection

Oil Lamp found in the barn that once stood at 46 Pleasant St in Westford. It is nineteen inches in height. “Banner” is imprinted on the metal wick assembly, while the knob states the lamp was made by “P & A Mfg. Co. Waterbury Conn Made In U.S.A.”

The house that once stood at 46 Pleasant St was built by 1855, appearing on the 1855 Symmes map of Westford. According to the Westford Historical Commission house records, the house was known as the David P. Lawrence House. It was torn down by 2019. The Westford Gazetteer highlights an older, ca. 1730 house by that name, down the road at 62 Pleasant St. It is also known as the Thomas Heald House. This still standing house is one of the oldest in Westford.
