Watercolor

Framed and matted watercolor of William Atwood Millett’s studio showing paintings leaning against the walls. The dimensions are 23.5″ x 19.5″ with the frame. The undated painting features a wood stove, artist’s tools, several paintings, and even his own self-portrait from when he was a young man. The portrait is within the Fletcher Library’s special collection and is shown on the Museum website with permission.

Bill Millett was born in 1922 and died in 2007. He lived in the family home at 4 Graniteville Road in Westford, MA. After serving in the US Navy during WWII, he traveled to Paris to train as an artist professionally. He painted portraits, landscapes, and scenes of daily life. Deborah Stein Sharpe, the artist’s cousin, gave the picture to the museum.
