Shell

From the collection

Pink and gray crown conch shell. It was used as a dinner horn at the Pelatiah Fletcher Farmstead in the late 1700s to early 1800s. The house was built by 1720, and still stands at 54 Lowell Rd today. It was the home of Revolutionary War veteran Pelatiah Fletcher (1767-1811) and his family. The shell was donated to the Historical Society by Gertrude and Julia Fletcher Strombus in 1985.
