“Whistle Stop.” Framed black and white photograph of the Forge Village train station from 1941. Photographed by photojournalist Dow L. Case (1915-1980), who was nominated for the 1914 Pulitzer Prize in journalism. The station was where West Prescott St crossed Pleasant St. It was part of the Stony Brook Railroad, which was operated by B&M Railroad (later Pan Am Railways). The station closed after the 1940s, with the line becoming solely for freight by 1953. In 2022, Pan Am was bought out by CSX Transportation.
