The black and white photograph features remaining Civil War Veterans of Westford in 1915. From right to left, the four confirmed are:
Sarah Whitney Bicknell (1846-1937) — Wife of Ai Bicknell
Ai Bicknell (1843-1919) — Private, Company C, 16th MA Volunteer Infantry
Wesley Orin Hawkes (ca. 1842-1926) — Private, Company C, 31st Regiment MA Volunteer Infantry; Company K, 60th Regiment MA Volunteer Infantry
Wayland Francis Balch (1839-1937) — Private, Company E, 11th NH Volunteers.
The four identified are interred in Westford’s Fairview Cemetery.
The photograph was donated by Westford resident Marjorie Bundy in 1998.
