Coup Stick. In Native American cultures, coup sticks were used to track “coups” (strikes or blows) against enemies. It was believed that striking or even touching an enemy with a coup stick was a sign of the upmost bravery and war honor without having to take a life.
This particular coup stick is decorated with a rattle snake’s rattle, an armadillo claw, a bone spike, and the Silver Beaver and Turtle Awards.
