Turner's Public Spirit, February 21, 1925

A look back in time to a century ago

By Bob Oliphant

[Page 2 of Turner’s Public Spirit, which contains The Westford Wardsman section, is missing from the on-line scans for this newspaper, although the other seven pages are present.[1]]

Ayer

News Items.  Rev. Frank B. Crandall officiated at the funeral of Wallace Johnson of Westford on Monday afternoon.

Real Estate Transfers.  The following real estate transfers have been recorded from this vicinity recently:

Westford, Claude L. Allen to Theresa K. Miethe, land on Sand Beach road; Alcie M. K. Lambert to Edward H. Kayes [sic, Keyes is meant].

Littleton

News Items.  There was a large company of spectators at the basketball game in the town hall Tuesday night.  Littleton High won the game from [the] De Molay team of Ayer, scoring 38 to De Molay’s 26 points.  The town team was less successful, the visiting team from Townsend carrying off the laurels.  On February 27 the high school here will play a return game with Westford academy on the latter’s court.

[1] “Center. W. W. Johnson, whose obituary appeared in last week’s issue, left three great-grandchildren instead of two, as reported. …” The Westford Wardsman, February 28, 1925.
