C.G. Sargent Sons Machine Patterns

The museum has a large collection of pattens or “casts” used to create the many moving parts of C.G. Sargent Dryers. They are made from a mix of metal and wood. Every pattern is numbered to help keep track of the many moving parts.

C.G. Sargent Sons Corporation was founded by (1819-1878) and Francis A. Calvert (1830-1904) in 1894. They operated in the Graniteville section of Westford. Sargent’s sons, Frederick (1843-1935) and Allan (1859-1952), joined their father and eventually took over the business. The company went out of business in 1990, with assets being bought out by Buhler-Aeroglyde (now the Buhler Group).
