The company also had a float, with another group representing Abbot’s Lowell Mill. Abbot Worsted Co was founded by 1855 by John W.P. Abbot (1834-1897) and his son, John W. Abbot (1834-1897). Their first mill was in Graniteville. They later expanded to Forge Village in 1879, and the Brookside (Nabnasset) Mills in 1919. All these locations were along Stony Brook. The company went out of business in 1956, after moving out of Westford.
