Black and white photo of the home of Lt. Nahum Wight (1745-1834) as it looked around 1900
Lieut. Nahum Wight was born in Medfield, Massachusetts and served in the Revolutionary War. Lieut. Wight (also spelled White in Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War) served as a corporal under Captain Benjamin Bullard from Sherborn and marched on Concord in April 1775. He also served in the Continental Army at Fort Ticonderoga, among other campaigns. After living most of his life in Medfield and Sherborn, he moved to Westford, to be near his son Caleb and his family.
The house was located near Wyman’s Corner in what is now Old Groton Road. Also known as the Lyon House, it was built around 1717. The Lyon, Wright, and Wyman families owned the house. It was torn down in 2000.
