Postcard

3 3/8″ x 5 3/8″ black and white Postcard of the Stone Arch Bridge in the Graniteville area of town. The card was printed around 1910. The bridge was made as part of the Nashua, Acton and Boston Railroad, which was also known as the Red Line. A chronically unprofitable line, it ran from 1873 to 1925. The granite blocks for the bridge came from Flat Rock Quarry in what is today a part of Nashua, NH, while no mortar was used in construction.

In 1986, the two surrounding parcels, totaling 3.77 acres, were purchased by the town. Today, the trail system within the property, including the bridge, is administered by the Westford Conservation Commission.
