Have you ever wondered about what Madison thought as he wrote the US Constitution? Have you ever thought about the world of our founding fathers and how current events at the time may have influenced the votes of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention? The League of Women Voters, are holding an event to explore just this topic at the Westford Museum. By signing up, you will be designated a delegate to the Constitutional Convention where we will all deliberate the possibility of including the “Federal Negative” into the constitution, which has been proposed by our esteemed colleague, Rep Pinckney of Virginia, and seconded by Rep Madison himself.
This case study, created by the Harvard Business School and licensed to the League of Women Voters for its use, will be the focus of our event. Upon registration, participants will be provided a read-ahead “homework assignment”, which provides context to the Constitutional Convention of June 8, 1787. At the event itself, we will all discuss and eventually vote on the inclusion of this “Federal Negative” into the draft constitution. Come see how Westford votes!
