Recently, Geoff talked with Jim Antonelli, the former principal of Westford Academy, who has recently stepped down after 16 years!
Jim grew up in Westford and attended the local public schools, where football and wrestling played significant roles in his life. As a Westford Academy football team coach, he began his professional journey in 1988. In 1993, Jim returned to Westford Academy to start his student teaching, and the following year, in 1994, Jim became a classroom teacher. Shortly afterward, he pursued a position as the dean of student activities and served in that role for several years. Jim then advanced to assistant principal before being promoted to principal in 2007, a role he proudly held for 16 years.
Geoff Hall continues to capture stories from the Westford community through a project called “Westford Tales,” which focuses on residents’ memories of the town over the years. His passion for history and Westford has inspired him to create several documentaries about the town’s past. Geoff acknowledges that none of these projects would have been possible without the guidance and support of the many volunteers he has collaborated with.
