Did you know that there was a blacksmith shop, the Town Pound, the Westford Town Clerk’s Office and a Ski Tow once located on Boston Road?

Let’s walk along Boston Rd together with Ellen Harde, and note the historic buildings, homes and sites that Kate Hamlin, born in Westford Center in 1847, writes of in her reminiscences of her neighborhood as it was 170 years ago.

Then we will head back to the Westford Museum for a more detailed discussion on the history of one of Westford’s most traveled roads. BOSTON Road. 

Your guide, Ellen Harde became Westford’s first female selectman in 1972 and later served as town moderator from 1993-2017. She has also served on the Westford Recycling Commission, the Westford League of Women Voters, the Westford Land Preservation Foundation, was instrumental in the establishment of the Roudenbush Community Center and most recently on the Town Farm Task Force. Ellen has also co-authored many books on Westford History.
