Records — Acts of Incorporation

From the collection

A copy of the original Act of Incorporation of the Westford Academy is bound with copies of the WA trustees meetings. In this case, the book featuring the earliest meetings from 1793 to 1857. Zaccheus Wright, John Abbot, Abel Boynton, among others, came together in 1792 to create a new institution by the name of Westford Academy. While WA began educating students within what is today the Westford Museum in September 1794 (225 years ago!), the institution was officially incorporated on September 28, 1793.

The records were presented to Westford Museum by Trustees of Westford Academy, 1988.
