Tues. 1
Weather warm and fine. Drilled in aft, staid at E’s until 7
when she & J stopped at home a short time when went to
executive meet at Mr. R’s.

Wed. 2
All went to Lowell but Sarah. Got home at 6 at 7 went to E’s.
Miss Carrie Davis has been there a few days. E is quite well now.
Thur. 3
Went to [??] at Mrs. [Hunniston’s??] & to meet in eve. E &
Sarah had a ride. E’s head aches some. She went to meet in
eve.
Fri. 4
Weather fine. Carrie & E went to ride & May to walk but I staid
at home to sew on my dress. Went to E’s at 5 ½.

Sat. 5
Weather cloudy. Finished my blue dress. Went to E’s at 6. She
has a cold took some drops tonight hadn’t before for a number
of days

Sun. 6
Weather rain. Rained so hard didn’t go to meet in eve.

Mon. 7
Weather rain. Washed in morn. Went to E’s at 6 ½ & stayed
until 9. E’s head has ached a number of days.

Tues. 8
Weather fine. Went down to Mrs. Fletcher’s at 10 ½ got home
12 ½ drilled in aft & stayed to Ellias until 6 ½. Amy came at
noon. Meet in eve.

Wed. 9
Weather rain. Had a note from E in morn saying she had a
miserable night. A cold hurt her to breathe, coughed & a [??]
headache. I went at 2. She was alone stayed all night. Meet
here.

Thurs. 10
Weather fine. Drilled in the aft. Got home early this morn.
Stopped at E’s from drill & stayed until past 6. Meet. in eve. at
Mrs. Wheelers.

Fri. 11
E & J rode [with to 5109?] to see Josie on errands in morn. In
aft E called here until 5 then stayed at Mrs. R’s until meet, in
eve. At Mrs. Hardy Sarah & I called at [Linces??] and May to
meet.

E spent [Frid??] night here went to haunting class from here.
Drill in eye. E came home with me & spent night.

Didn’t get home from church until 2 ½ communion + C. 136
there 9 in my class. E’s had ached so and came home after first
meet in eve. & went to bed.

Weather fine. [?? carried??] for Lowell 2 ½ got home about 2
in morn. E went in cars at noon.

Tues. 15
Weather fine. Sarah & I called at Reads then I went home for
letter & found E here. Then we called [??] & Mrs Noyses [??]
until 7. Amy was at Mrs Wrights then E Carrie here & short
night. Went to bed at 7 ½ [??] & [??] went to meet.

Wed. 16
Public drill rehearsal in aft. I stayed at E’s until about 8 when
she came home with me.

Weather rainy. Meeting about fair in aft at E’s. Then I stayed
there until meet there in eve.

Fri. 18
Weather pleasant. E & I rode to Littleton called at Ells & Mr.
Colburns. Clara & Amy went to Boston so E is going to stay
here.

Sat. 19
Weather fine. E went to her house a little while in aft. Then
came here back here with H Bucks & Mrs .R was here then E & I
walked to Mrs. [??onlds.]. Went to bed at 8girls went to
rehearsal.

Sun. 20
107 at church. 9 in my class. Snowed a little in eve went to
meet. I didn’t sleep well S. night.

Mon. 21
Weather snow. Cleared off for our drill in Littleton. Made $18.
I rode down to May Boynton’s after dinner. Got home from L at
11. First sleigh ride.

Tues. 22
Weather fine. E went in to Mrs. R’s and her house in morn. In
aft Sarah E & I went to Mrs. Read’s and Boynton’s. Meet in eve.
Played [??] before meet. E went to bed instead of meet.

Wed. 23
E left here this morn. Expecting C home at noon but I went to
E’s in eve & found her alone. So stayed until nearly 8 then she
came home with me. We played 1 game [??]. E & Mrs. Noyes
rode to K in aft.

Thurs. 24
Weather fair. [Cuilo??] here. Mrs. R Mrs. Hoar & Ella stayed
here until time for meet. at Mrs. [Proclons??]. [I & Carrie??]
came home from Boston today.

Weather fair. Della called. E Came in aft. Mrs. R & Miss Hoar.
E & May & I looked over Alec’s house then E & I called at [??].
Then at parsonage then I went home with E & stayed until 9.

Sat. 26
Weather fair. In aft. Sarah E & I worked at church on library
books. I went home with E from there & stayed until nearly 9.
E was tired & went to bed at 7½ .

Sun. 27
Weather snow. 5-8 at church. Snowed so hard in eve. didn’t go
to meet. Only [C??] there for ladies.

Mon. 28
Weather fair. May & I took a short walk about dark here. I
stopped at E’s until 7. Ida stopped here & came home with me.
We all went Sarah [Harnlins??] lecture. E didn’t feel well at
lecture [??] had a bad night. Stomach trouble again.

Tues. 29
May and I took short walk again then I went to E’s & found her
sick. Stayed there until 7 then went home & went to meet.
Then stayed all night with E. she had another bad night.
Vomited yesterday. Snowed a little no work so [Kellee??] didn’t
come.

Wed. 30
Weather fair. I didn’t get home from E’s until 8½. Went there
at 4½ & stayed all night. E slept well. Went to bed at 7.

Thurs. 31
E came here towards night & I went home [much hero??] &
crocheted until meet. at Mrs. Wheelers. Mr. [Chaprirans??]
house burned thurs night.

February, 1889
Fri. 1
E came here at 2 stayed a short time then we went to ride with
Dandy. Stayed home short time then went to [depot??] after
May [with??] Dandy [??] stayed at E’s until 9. Clara cut
herself.

Sat. 2
Went to E’s in morn. She had a miserable day with C. I went
there at 5 & stayed till 9. E’s head ached & C

Sun. 3
I had G in my class. E & I walked a little after church. She
didn’t sleep last night. She read in mission meet. a
consecration meet.

Mon. 4
Went to E’s at 5 & stayed all night. Found her sick. Vomiting
twice. I read in aft. E went to her aunts but felt sick there.

Tues. 5
Weather rainy. I got home from E’s in morn at 8. She didn’t
sleep very well. Miserable in [Lourton??]. Slept some. I went
there past 6 & stayed until meet. Finished John Ward in aft.

Wed. 6
Carrie & May went riding for money for Mrs. [Chah??] E came
& took E riding a little ways but it was to cold. Afterwards E
went home with me stayed after late. Then I went home with
her till 9.

Thurs. 7
Stopped at E’s at 11 on my way to Anderson & Mrs. [Chah??]
with $140 & found her miserable with a cold. Went there after
[??] uncle & found her sick vomited twice. I stayed until 9.
Prayer meet. at home.

Fri. 8
S & I spent eve. at E’s work books. Had a note from E saying she
had a comfortable night but sleep wasn’t good only sleep a few
minutes at time. I went there at 2½ but found a [germre??] so
didn’t stay much after 4. E keeps [berry??] sick.

Sat. 9
Sarah & I worked at church on books until dark then I stayed
with E until 9. She keeps feeling sick & her cold still bad.
Didn’t sleep well last night.

Sun. 10
Went to E’s from S.S. & stayed until 8½ . Clara took Aunt Jennie
to S & went to eve. meet. E slept better last night & cold seems a
little better. Keeps feeling sick.

Mon. 11
Went to E’s about 5. Found her worse. Mr. & Mrs. R were there.
In eve. kept vomiting & all night. We moved another bed in
her chamber. Girls went to the first of Miss Hamlin’s lectures.

Tues. 12
Weather snowy. E keeps vomiting today. I took Dandy at noon
& went home to dinner. Sarah & I went to ride. I felt
miserable at night & went to bed in another room.

Wed. 13
E was sick some in night last night but not much today. Mrs. R
stayed with her in aft. while I went home with Sarah. May & I
walked down to Mrs. [Chalmans??].

Thurs. 14
E vomited from [trmts??] last night. In aft. I went home &
Sarah & I took a walk. Found Mrs. Noyes here when came back.
E seemed very weak & sick in eve.

Fri. 15
The medicine made E sick in night so we don’t give her any
until Dr. comes.

Sat. 16
Mrs. R stayed with E a while in apt. E was sick before she went
away. May & I rode a long way with Dandy.

Sun. 17
E was sick at 5 in morn. I went to [SS??] & to dinner.

Mon. 18
Weather rainy. Slept with E last part of night. She eats every 1
or 2 hours today. Walked home a while in aft.

Tues. 19
I slept in back chamber. C gave E [browned??] 5 limes. Didn’t
sleep well. Seems brighter than any day before. Mrs. R came to
see her in aft. & Eva &[Lnanna??] I went home & S & I walked
to Litchfields then I had tea at home.

Wed. 20
May went to Lowell in cars today. I stayed with E last night. By
giving her bromide 4 or 5 times she slept pretty well. Didn’t sit
up until afternoon. Don’t feel as bright & hungry as yesterday.
Vomited in her food in eve. Lizzie L. called on her in aft.
Sarah & I went to ride with [Plnto??]. Getting up a load for
Lincoln.

Thurs. 21
E was sick after her breakfast. Seems sleepy today. Sat up about
10 min. in aft. S & I rode down to Taylors & C in morn. Went
home to another. Slept pretty well without bromide.

Fri. 22
E had on dress for 1st time. sat up 2 or 3 hours. Mrs. Noyes
called on her about night when I came home to supper. She
threw up her supper. Slept well at night.

Sat. 23
Weather cold. E slept well last night. Was dressed about 11. I
stayed until after 12. then came home. May & I rode to
Littleton. Her hands begin to be numb. I went there in eve.

Sun. 24
Mrs. Rowley & I went to E’s from SS a few minutes. After dinner
I went there staid until E slept at home for 1st time last night.

Mon. 25
Went to Lowell in morn. Father started for [Jefas??]. Went to E
about night. Found Mrs. Rowley there so I called on Mrs.
Fletcher. Staid at E’s until after lecture.

Tues. 26
I went to E’s at 2 & stayed until 7. Went to meet. Clara went to
ride.

Wed. 27
I carried E’s dinner to her & stayed until 7. She felt some sick
in the aft. Mrs. R called on her. Only sits up about 2 hours a
day now.

Thurs. 28
E threw up her breakfast. Didn’t sit up today. Only ate 1 soda
cracker all day. I came home to meet.
March, 1889

Fri. 1
I went to E’s about 2 & staid until 8. May staid a while with us
in aft. E threw up her supper feels miserably. Numb since

Went to E’s about 11 & staid until nearly 1. Sarah & Mrs. R
called there in aft. I went about 5 & staid all night. She
vomited 3 time in eve. C went to see Dr. Fletcher. E slept well.
Was sick again at 4½ in morn.

Sun. 3
I went to Lowell for Aunt Jennie so I staid until 1½. E vomited
at 12 & 8 today p.m. Dr came in eve. I was there a while before
con. meet. & after she only had a few spoonfuls of gruel in
morn & broth at night. Stomach feels very badly.

Mon. 4
E didn’t sleep until 1½. Only a few spoonfuls of gruel & broth in
morn & noon. Dr. Kartwell came in aft.

Tues. 5
Weather rainy. E had 1 spoonful of meat mice in morn has
began to take injections of milk. Vomited in morn. J’s two
weak to help herself to water. Slept well last night, I staid with
her. Went to meet. in eve. Noye there have been in housewith
her all day.

Wed. 6
E sick last night at 1½ & 6½ a.m. Didn’t sleep much. Also sick
twice more. I went home to supper. Mrs. Noyes called here.

Thurs. 7
E vomited 6 times today. I staid with her all day. Went home
from 6 to 7.

Fri. 8
E vomited 5 or 6 times with stomach felt as though I was
throwing up! Dr. doesn’t want her to drink much. Mrs. Noyes
watches tonight so I came home.

Sat. 9
Had to give up food injections today. I staid with E all day.
Didn’t go home until past 8. Aunt Elmira watches tonight.

Sun. 10
I didn’t come here to stay until after dinner. Staid until Mrs.
Read came in eve. Dr. J staid last night there.

Mon. 11
E had hard day. I got the Dr. to giver her morphine tonight.
She said she felt so bad.

Tues. 12
Mrs. R came today & talked with E about going. Her voice
began to sound husky tonight. Hard for her to talk. Aunt
Hannah & Jennie came tonight. Her eye right is beginning to
fail her. Dr. Dutton come.

Wed. 13
E is drowsy today. Aunt H take s most of care today. I went
home about 3 & went to Littleton. Came here in eve. She
whispery.

Thurs. 14
Found Aunt H sick this morn. So I have taken a good deal of
care of E. I went to ride about 4½ to depot & then home to tea
& back here to spend night.

Fri. 15
E has talked more about going before than before. Mrs. R came
in aft. Mrs. Chamberlain & I took care of her last night. Was
restless until 12 when I went for Dr. after that she slept some &
was [gnile griet??] & comfortable most of day. Said she was
real comfortable. I went home past 8 to spend the night. Very
long day.

Sat. 16
Weather cloudy. I went to E’s about 9. she told me first thing
how happy she was then she grew very restless. We nearly all of
us worked over her & couldn’t seem to satisfy her. So they sent
[Granite??] for Dr. about 11. We put her to sleep. She slept
until about 2 when she waked up delirious & talked real queer.
?Sent for [Dayain?] this time she slept until 8½ a.m. When she
talked a little while. Died 9:15.

Tues. 19
Weather cloudy. E’s funeral 2½ p.m. I got home about 5. Mrs.
Noyes was here. Girls went to Granite. “Old Folks Concert.”

Wed. 20
Weather cold & cloudy. I called on Lizzie Spalding in aft. & at
Clara’s. Bade Aunt Jennie good-bye. Had a talk with May &
went with her to [Elle’s & Jimmey’s & Sarah works for Lucas this
week??].

Weather cloudy. Staid at home & worked all day. Meet. here
in eve.

Fri. 22
Weather fair. May & I took Mrs. R & Ruth to ride to Martens. I
wrote the class letter in morn. & ironed.

Sat. 23
Weather fair. Swept chambers. S M & J rode to depot & I call
on C Decatur.

Sun. 24
Weather fair. Had a talk with Lizzie L Jane came home with
us. Stayed after eve. meet. & talked with Anderson.

Mon. 25
Weather cloudy. Washed & Nellie came again. Mrs. Fletcher
called on me. I called on Mrs. R. Jane. Mother & I looked over
Alec’s house.

Tues. 26
Weather fair. Went & helped Mrs. R 1½ h in morn. She is most
sick. In aft. May & I went to N Gollins but didn’t find her.
Meet. in eve. May went. C. W. came from Boston.

Weather fair. Helped Mrs. R 1½ h in morn. About 5 went to PO
& library & stayed out in Clara W’s [jard] with her awhile.
Jane left tonight. Carrie Hoar & came this noon.

Went to Mrs. R’s after tea. She isn’t as well then I went to Mrs.
Wheelers about Eliza H meet. in eve. Clara gone Boston.

Made two pies for Mrs. R in morn. & carried them there at
noon. Mr. R & I went to Mrs. Reads & he made more calls. Miss
Hamlins lecture in eve.

Went to children’s sing in aft. with May. Then to Mrs. R’s
Mended her stockings. Went to choir rehearsal in eve.
Thinking Laura M. might be there. C Hoar went home, called
here.

Weather snow. Had 10 in my class. About 100 at church.

Weather snow. Houghton came for me in apt. to go to church
meet. I went home there & called on Mrs. R. Wrote to Mrs.

Weather fair. Helped Mrs. R in morn. Took L. Spalding to
Parkerville & L. Litchfield to Graniteville & called on Alina R.
Very muddy.

Wed. 3
Mrs. R sent for me last eve. They were afraid of pneumonia. I
didn’t sleep much in night. Have staid all day. Went home to
supper.

Mrs. R sick today. I walked to L. Spalding in morn. & Mrs. C
Fletcher’s. Laura & Sarah called on us. I went to Gen Swift’s

Worked very hard today. Went home at 7½ & went to ride with
Clara W. Then staid at home an hour.

Had lots of callers this aft. Spent eve. at home. Mrs. R is better
than any day. [Girl??] didn’t come.

Went home few mins in morn. & Sarah & I went to Granite
Forge & C for gat. meet. in eve.

Weather warm. May came early in aft. & we collect on Clara W
in her field. Staid at home short time the went to [Lauren??].

I left Mrs. R’s after dinner for good. Went to Easter rehearsals
in aft with W. did up lots of sweeping in forenoon for Mrs. R.

Had no [preaching??] in town. M & J went to Hall then I came
home & M stayed to [SS??]. I went to meet. in eve.

Mon. 15
Father & I washed 3 carriages after Nellie gone home. Was so
tired staid at home rest of day. Wasn’t very well.

L. M. & J went to Lowell. Nellie came before 7. I sent off letter N
Collins & went to meet.

Wed. 17
I gave E’s [hapers??] to Grace Litchfield & went to see if Mrs.
Hardy wished to go ride with Mother but she was afraid of East
wind. Went after milk & to Easter rehearsal.

Thurs. 18
Weather rainy. I made Mrs. R a fire & went & swept her sitting
room. Read in aft.

Fri. 19
Weather hot. Mother, Sarah & Mrs. Hardy rode to Granite & C
got some salary. I called on Mrs. G Farrar. Staid at home rest
of time. Finished “Robert Elsmere.”

Sat. 20
Rehearsal in apt. then May & I carried Laura home & went by
farm for milk. Thunder showers the grass very green.

Easter concert tonight. [Zuile??] a lot at church. 7 in my class.

Have a cold. Head aches. Called on Mrs. R.

Led the meet. tonight. Went to Mrs. R’s about night a little
while. Mother & May went to Littleton.

Went to take L. Spaliding to ride but she was cleaning &
couldn’t go. Carried some doughnuts to Mrs. R on may with
mother down to farm. Stopped at Mrs. F Hildreth’s on way.

After dinner went on [??] to Mrs. Farran’s & Rowley’s. Then
mother & I rode to Mrs. Keyes. Decaturs Johnsons, Reads & C.
meet. in eve.

Wed. 1
Worked at home until about night. May & I walked down
Granite Road. Copied children’s Canlala in eve. went to
Rowley’s on errand. Dinner time carried Mrs. S some apples.

Thurs. 2
Went to acad. to see Lanny, M when called on Clara W. She &
Mrs. Sherman are cleaning when went home & sewed then
copied E’s papers. Then after two called at Linces. Meet. here.
Sarah & father went to Lowell.

Fri. 3
Sewed on S’s dress until most right then May & I walked down
to Granite. [????] Copied in eve.

Sat. 4
Did housework while I sewed & May [hainled??]. At 2 carried
Mrs. Farrar con. some apples & E’s papers that I had copied.
Stayed a little while then went to Mrs. R’s few minutes then to
rehearsal for S. F. then came home & sewed on S’s dress.

7 in my class. Sat up in my chamber in aft. 2 at consecration
meet. Sent off Bertha’s letter.

Mon. 6
Put down pink chamber carpet in aft. then read a while. Start
off a book to [??].

Tues. 7
Put down parlor carpet this morn. S W & I rode to Little. in
aft. called on Ida L & got $1 from her for [??]. Saw [??] niece
for first time.

Wed. 8
Weather hot. Walked to school to tell the [??] to come here
tomorrow & [??] roasted. Called on Mrs. R eve. she walked a
short way with me. I wrote a letter about home to Mirs. D. Am
sewing on plain dress. Carried Mrs. Farrar some apples & paper
& called a short time.

Weather hot. Have been home all day only to P. G. tonight.
Sewing. Then dress today for first aft.

Fri. 10
Was going to call on Mrs. Cumming but it showered so didn’t
go anywhere. The Violets came here.

Sat. 11
Worked hard doing housework. I sewed on my dress & M wasn’t
well. In aft. went to rehearsal then walked with Ida & called
on Abbie W as she is sick & Mrs. Noyes.

Sun. 12
G in class. Mrs. R’s sermon nice. “Let Patience have her Perfect
Work.” Wrote nearly all aft.

Mon. 13
Mrs. R, Becca, Mary & I called on Mrs. Barrand, Dan &
Litchfield. I wrote letter to Mrs. Read in even. & went to sleep.

Stayed home & sewed until meet. in eve. L & M. walked down to
Days on errand.

Wed. 15
This aft. went to acad. Then called on Clara W. Mrs. Proctor,
Gould & Cummings. Then helped girls string up vines.

L, M & I went to Pelham today.

Fri. 17
Weather hot. I began a letter to Dora Russell. Mrs. B & I called
on Mrs. Cumming’s tenant this eve. & then I stayed at Mrs.
Read’s a while.

Weather hot. Rehearsal in aft. then I called on L. Spalding &
Mrs. Wheeler. At seven Mrs. Wheeler & I rode to Littleton for
Roy.

7 in class. Mr. R is going to Clifton Lanes.

Weather rainy. Sewed all day. Wrote a letter to Roy in aft.

Went to PG about 5. Then to Mrs. R’s. I ripped a dress for her.

while with George then called on Arny & saw Mrs. Rowley &
Hardy on st. wrote to Cynthia. Went & spent night with Lizzie.

Called at Mrs. R’s in morn. before going to Lizzie’s. Then spent
eve there. Sarah & May gone to Boston. May to Ida’s. Mother &
I went to plains depot after Sarah & Becca.

Rehearsal in aft. then Sarah & I attempted to call on Mrs.
[Cumrston??]. Didn’t find her at home. Rode then with Ma &
Pa. Walked back & called on Mrs. Hardy.

Sarah, Mrs. Wright & Noyes & I sewed for Mrs. R in aft. Didn’t
go home until dark.

Carried Mrs. R to Mrs. Eldridge Wrights in aft. then went up
then an hour before tea. & to meet. in eve. 20 there.

Wed. 5
Staid all night with Mrs. R & saw them off to rev. this noon.
Worked there until Nellie came after me. M & I needed front
walk most dark.

Thurs. 6
Called in aft. on Mrs. Farrar. I [??] & Mrs. A Wright meet. in
eve. Walked home with Shaw. Small meet.

Fri. 7
Sewed for Sarah most all day. Wrote letter to Arthur Rowley.

Weather rainy. Rehearsal in aft. Only a few there.

Weather cloudy. Prayer meet. in morn. 3 in class. Wrote to
