Product label for Read Farm Cider ca. 1850. The farm was originally owned by Joshua Read (1737-1809), and was located at 164 Main St. It remained in the family until as late as 1901, when it was owned by J. Henry Read (1835-1901). The farm was subsequently run by the Drew family until 1977, Benjamin Drew (1910-1989) being the last owner. Anderson farms ran the property into the late twentieth century, before being converted into residences. The Drew operation also included other properties such as the one later run as the Bohne Orchard on Tadmuck Rd. The Bohne operation also included the property on Boston Rd, Drew Gardens, which was sold in 2001, becoming Eric’s Flower Emporium, and then sold to a developer in 2016. After, the orchard on Tadmuck Rd reverted to the “Drew Farm” name.
