Nabnasset Camp

Photographs of the YMCA summer camp at Nab Lake around 1915. The camp was located at the Southeastern corner of the lake, where Edwards Beach and adjacent Ronan McElligott Park (playground) is today. According to a 1978 Westford Eagle article by Richard O’Neil, the land was purchased by Moses Edwards (1819-1889) in 1867, and was leased by the Edwards family to the YMCA. By the 1950s, still owned by the Edwards family, it was a private beach facility, accessed by admission fees. The land was purchased by the town in 1980, and now administered through the Parks and Rec Dept as a public beach for residents.
