A decorative container from the mid-twentieth century. Containers such as these may be used for a variety of purposes, such as tooth sticks, paper clips, or just decoration. It was made in China, according to the stamp on the bottom. Likely carved in marble, it depicts three monkeys in the hear, speak, and see no evil motif.
The object is part of the larger Atwood-Millett Collection. Most of which were donated by Deborah Stein-Sharpe in 2008. For more info on the Westford family, see the online Atwood Exhibit.
