February History Discussion

Four Mondays in February, 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the Westford Museum

This year’s topic: Westford Immigrant Stories from the late 19th to the early 21st century

We’ll be basing our sessions on both transcribed and recorded interviews of over a century of immigrants from places such as Russia, England, Sweden and India who came to make Westford their home.

Why did they come here?  Where did they work? What were their work and social lives like?  What was it like to live in Westford? We’ll touch on these and many other questions as we hear their stories.

Many nationalities have come to Westford over the past century.  We’ll broadly highlight the following over the four weeks

2/4  – Russia

2/11 –  England

2/18 –  Sweden. We’ll look at the granite industry in Westford

2/25 – India – Shankar Hegde will read from his recent autobiography American Ajja and discuss his immigrant experience.

Please let us know if you’ll be joining us by contacting the museum by e-mail or phone at :  director@museum.westford.org or  978-692-5550
