Two needlepoint slippers, needlepoint. There is a floral motif. The slippers were never removed from the canvas. The note that came with the pattern reads, “Worked by and a last gift to the church she loved so well. From Rebecca E. Luce. Price $2.00. These were likely for an 1890s bazaar at the Union Congregational Church (now First Parish Church United), where her husband, Leonard Luce (1799-1884) was minister from 1829 to 1852. Rebecca Eaton Guild Luce (1801-1892) was also a connected with the history of women’s rights, signing a petition with 254 other Westford women in support of the town not appropriating licenses for alcohol sales.
