Crossbow

From the collection

This handmade crossbow was made of pine, with attached pieces made of hickory. A string would have been affixed to the firing mechanism to propel an arrow. It was recovered from the Gould-Picking Farm in 1998, and was likely used by a young boy to shoot small objects like stones. The farm itself was located at 5 Gould Rd, and is now run as Meadowbrook Farm. This farm is also home to The Maker Farm, which offers a mix crafting and farming workshops to the public.
